William Simpson on the 1939 register doesn't seem to be Frank & Margaret's son - DOB in March 1931.
The name George has been added after the name William .

There's a William G Simpson born in the right quarter, in Marylebone.
Probable parents Thomas and Emily H (nee Armson) married in Willesden in 1926

Frank had a brother Thomas, birth reg 1st qr 1903 Kingsclere.

Here are Thomas and Emily in Willesden in 1939 - his DOB fits with Frank's brother's birth reg.
No children or closed records listed with them.
So I suggest William George is Frank and Margaret's nephew.

I know it seems a silly question, but are you quite sure your aunt's name was Mary Elsie ?

As you'll have seen from the replies above, the only marriage we can find of possible parents of Jennifer and Margaret indicates that her name was Margaret Jane.
