You say he’s your second cousin, so how was he connected to the Aunt you refer to?

One of his parents must have been a first cousin of one of yours - so which one?

If you want help with the research, give us some names to start from

In any case, where someone lived is no indicator of where they were born.

You said he was born c1947 - there is only ONE birth in England/Wales anywhere near that. Unless his registered first name wasn't Robert

There are NO male births in Sunderland for the surname Gettings between 1945 and 1951

Sadly, I don't remember their names, if I did I may have had more success tracing him myself. I haven't been in touch with this part of my extended family for more than 50 years and just wanted to fill in some blanks before it's too late. Many thanks for your help.

I too found a birth and marriage but they were for South West Durham, and I'm sure he was born in Sunderland, and he lived in Sunderland in the 60's, with his parents. Not sure of his parents names as my Aunt who had this information, and lived in the same area, passed away last year.

There's one born in 1946 but there's no Sunderland connection for his birth or marriage.

I'm trying to trace a second cousin, Robert (Robbie) Gettings, birth year approx 1947.
