I am trying to find my half brother. I only recently found out about him.
Born in Bodmin in 1944. Mothers name Phyllis Haseley.
If you can help please get in touch

ErikaH Report 10 Jul 2020 16:33

Look for him in ‘search all member trees’

No indication on the birth info on freebmd relating to adoption, so name should be the same

Have you looked anywhere for info yourself?

malyon Report 10 Jul 2020 16:52

are you sure his middle name is arthur as not stated on birth

can only find one birth in uk for john a leeke there are 2 marriages for him in peterborough which could be him

ArgyllGran Report 10 Jul 2020 17:24

Malyon -

the Peterborough marriages are likely to be those of a John Anthony Leeke who was born in Peterborough.

ErikaH Report 10 Jul 2020 18:38

Second forenames are not on the birth index for the period in question

No point, anyway, in posting the birth - the OP gave the relevant details

He could still be adopted. The addition of the S suffix on the page number only appeared for the 60s-80s.

malyon Report 10 Jul 2020 22:16

i posted the birth to show the middle name never said it was arthur

ErikaH Report 11 Jul 2020 10:03

That’s because, as I wrote earlier, the second forename isn’t on the index In those times. One has to assume the poster has bought a copy of the cert

thanks for that clarification

ErikaH Report 11 Jul 2020 11:08

Put him in your GR tree. If he, or anyone connected, tries researching ,they'll be able to contact you

He isn't in anyone's tree at the moment.

His mother is in yours, but no-one else's

ErikaH Report 11 Jul 2020 11:20

You refer to John as a half-brother, but you and he both have same MMN :-S

I see you have the other sibling in your tree

ErikaH Report 11 Jul 2020 11:26

Purely for INFO

Marriages Sep 1939 (>99%)

Haseley Phyllis M Leeke Dorchester 5a 1523
Leeke Arthur Haseley Dorchester 5a 1523

As Phyllis was married to Leeke, for John to be the OP's half-sibling, it has to be assumed that she gave false info about the father when registering the two births in Bodmin district

You could add a postem to the freebmd information, so that if he or relatives of his are looking, they can contact you.
