TBH, it's unrealistic to think that he married as often as you suggest, although he could obviously have had liaisons with any number of women

You say he was in Glasgow at some time, so look at Scotland’s people to see if he married there. (BTW, purely for info, Glasgow has never been in Renfrewshire - it was historically in Lanarkshire before becoming a separate entity- )

Any children fathered out of wedlock - anywhere - may be registered only in the mother’s surname

Have you had contact with any of your father’s siblings?

Dad didn't have a middle name, which does make it easier. My Mum was marriage number 3 and there are some in quick succession. I've been trying to find a divorce search engine but they all seem super expensive or not particularly useful.

Hi Shirley,

I have sent a message to Georgina. His date of birth was 10th December 1953.

He died last year and although I have always been aware that I have siblings I've not met, there was a name that cropped up in his papers that I've not heard before - Phoebe. It's why I am now bothering to try and find living relatives because it's annoying me that this name isn't fitting anywhere! :-D

Many thanks for your help!

There is more than one Derrick Norton so are you sure of all the marriages

FMP shows more of the names you mention and some are only a year apart so seem unlikely time wise to marry ,divorce and remarry ?

Hi,

I am new here and I am looking for information and to find people connected to my Dad. I am aware that I may have siblings I did not know about prior to this.

Areas he was known to frequent: Washington Tyne & Wear, Warrington & Runcorn, Yorkshire, Portsmouth, Swansea, Glasgow (Renfrewshire)

Names he was connected to: Moxham, Ather, Chapman, Wingate, Gill.

Dad was married 10 or 11 times in his life, so there could be a lot of living relatives to find1!

Many thanks for any help.
