Trying to find family information for a James Jones born 1938 or thereabouts and previously or may still reside in the Maldon area of Essex.
There is a possibility that he may have died in the Coventry area.
Regards
Alistair

I'm afraid that's not enough information to go on.

There were dozens of James Joneses born around 1938, all over the country.

Do you know the names of any relatives?
Did he have a middle name?
When was he in Maldon area?
When do you think he may have died?

Jones is one of those really difficult surnames to research.
According to www.freebmd.org.uk there was one James Jones born in Essex in 1937 and 2 in 1939. All three have middle initials.

Do you have any indication of his mother’s maiden name or a middle name? There are pages of James Jones births over those 3 years on freebmd.

If you think he may still be living in Maldon then you need to check out the Electoral Rolls, probably on the 192 website.

Edit: There was a James JANES living in Maldon who died nearly 2 years ago.
Added - Someone has James Janes of Maldon in their family tree on here - use the search button and then search members trees.

I believe the gentleman in question was born in the Maldon area and in 1958 or thereabouts resided in St Giles crescent Maldon.
I have no further information other than he was a labourer and in 1958/60 worked in some Nursery.
Regards and thanks for your replies

IF he was born in Essex - and IF that 1955 marriage is relevant - and IF you're correct in thiking that he was born approx 1938 -

the only possibilities are a James A Jones born in Romford reg district in 1934, another in Colchester RD in 1945, and a third in West Ham in 1930.

Once services has restarted then Alistair needs to look for the Electoral Roll for the late 1950's. If James is living with someone then it might help lead to the right James.

Essex Archives have begun digitising the Electoral Rolls - I didn't see any indication of how far they had got. I think he would need a sub to SEAX for the archives but I have no experience of research in Essex.

Alistairs original thread was here this morning but has now been whooshed.

Alistair - this is quite normal for Genes to whoosh reported threads.

You had a post of support from Connie telling you not to give up. Both Connie and her adopted child had registered their details within a short time period. Must have been ESP.
