If she was an army nurse then the marriage should be in the army indices

Try contacting - https://www.qarancassociation.org.uk - the Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corps Association

Your Aunt may be or have been an Association member or someone who knew her might.

Is this your family - Jean presumably the closed record in 1939

Could you perhaps follow sibling lines to see if there is one you can contact and whether they know anything about your Aunt.

Have you asked ‘Google’?

Do you know how I can trace a Canadian Service marriage or a German marriage?

nameslessone

nameslessone Report 8 Jun 2022 14:31

She may not have registered the marriage with the British authorities. In that case it is probably either a German marriage or a Canadian service marriage.

I am trying to trace my Aunt Jean Lyle. She was born 20 April 1934 in Battersea, London and was the daughter of James Lyle and Jane Ethel Long. She was an army nurse and the little bit off information that I have is that she married a Canadian army medic in Germany in May 1958. Husband was called John Thompson.

I would like to get her marriage certificate for my file but would like to know whereabouts in Canada they live now. I have tried to trace the marriage on the British overseas register but had no luck.
