Mary Henderson married George Whillans 1899, Melrose, they had children Isabella H Whillans born 1900 died 1942, born in Melrose, Mary Whillans born 1902 died 1989, Archibald 1905 died 1944 married Elizabeth F Clapperton and George G Whillans born 1908 died 1986 married Elizabeth O Weatherston, they had George T Whillans b 1946 married Isla Herries Cumming 1967, Bowden Church.

Passed away peacefully in her sleep at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on December 17, 2020, at the age of 74. Loving wife of George for 53 years. Cherished mother of Gavin (Michelle) and Alistair (Sendi). Adored grandmother of Ethan and Rowan. Isla was a loving sister of Helen Oliver (Dan) and Marion Swanson (Gordon). She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, lifelong friends and neighbours. Isla will be best remembered for her courage, kindness, empathy, and love of family and friends. The family wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caring and compassionate staff of Princess Margaret Hospital, Harmony Hill Retirement Community and the Palliative Care Team at LHO for the care and professionalism shown to Isla. Words cannot properly express the family’s appreciation. Due to COVID 19, there will be no formal funeral at this time, and a celebration of Isla’s life will be held in the future. Arrangements entrusted to THORNTON FUNERAL CENTRE (1200 Thornton Road North, South of Taunton Road and off of Dryden Blvd, 905-579-6787). Memorial donations to assist in the building of the new Durham Region Hospice will be gratefully accepted.
