I can find nothing on any of the sites regarding my Grandads 1st World war records or medals but i know he was in the army as i have a picture of him on a horse and also another one with some men who were cooking. Anyone can help please.

What sites have you looked on,

A picture of him in uniform on a horse is no proof he served in WW1, Have you had the photo and uniform dated?

Some details may help, Name, where and when was he born

Where have you looked?

DazedConfused Report 7 Sep 2013 08:49

And as only 30% of WW1 records survive many of us are in the same boat....

I too have a picture of my Grandfather in uniform on a horse. He was in the Imperial Yeomanry and fought in the Second Boer War in South Africa. Maybe your grandfather too was in that war. The Imperial Yeomanry was disbanded in 1908.
