hi again yes I have had a look, but as I have already found there are so many with the same name. I think I should give up clutching at straws , hehehe.
would have been a lot easier if I had any other info on this man other than seeing him in the last cen I found him living.
thnx so much anyways

The dates for clasps are listed on the site I posted the link above, AngloBoerWar.com

As indicated above you need to research the MAN, If he served in the forces at that time then their should be some record with his name on it, If he served in the boer war then the site above should enable you to determin if he qualified for the clasp

also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen's_South_Africa_Medal

hey hi there,
thnx for your reply.

the info I have is only a guess as im searching to find any info on my granpa.
I was wondering if there may be any other information abt this man through his medals ... just to establish if we have the right man.. but so far we have no luck.. but I do remember seeing a ribbon and sum paper mentioning the south African clasp..
not sure if dad would have been old enough (young enuff) to have been awarded this...
I have no proof that our father served in any forces. only the info about th clasps.
do you know what years this medal would of applied to?

thnx again

First you need to search for the persons service record that should tell you his regiment and were he served

Findmypast hold British Army Service Records 1760-1915

http://www.findmypast.co.uk/search/army-service-records/all

Also Anglo-Boer War records 1899-1902

http://www.findmypast.co.uk/boer-war-register-search-start.action?product=BW?gclid=CPyXqbOcvrkCFZQZtAod0z8ATQ

Also see http://www.angloboerwar.com/medals-and-awards/british/1875-queens-south-africa-medal

It will tell you what qualified him for the clasp, so where and when he served in SA,

Also do you have that person on the 1901 census?
