I've just received my grandads birth certificate and it made me cry
His father is Christopher poynton
And his mam
Eliza poynton maiden name Ward
And on the birth certificate there is a cross and next to it says the mark of Eliza poynton mother

Can you help me find there parents please

In order to find my grandads parents I've tried to purchase a copy of Henry Poynton birth certificate
He was born in Murton/Easington in 1896 but how do I find out the exact date to get a copy of the birth certificate?

Note the different spelling of the name Pointon v Poynton

Only his birth certificate can confirm if these two are his parents

We were all new to this at some point, Just learn from the mistakes and move on

The only way to be 100% sure of any research is to back up your findings with documentary evidance which includes Buying BMD certs

If you want to know who Harry/Henry's parents are then search results are a start but only his birth cert will confirm this.

From memory his mother was said to be Eliza not Elizabeth but his birth certificate should confirm which it is

Margaret, (poynton) and (pointon) are just different spellings of the same name and back in the day people were not as literate as they are today so they would often never know how it should be spelt so could not correct officials who did the form filling on documents like census's and BMD cert

The variations in name spelling is one of many reasons why people fail to get to grips with researching their family history

Margaret, I think you will find they were both called Wilson?

Ann Omitted there surenames and Just quoted there forenames
