Hope somebody can help, I have been looking for Thomas Wyatt b1893 who served with the Royal field atillery and for Frank Wyatt b 1891 who served with the Devons regiment. Can not find any trace of either since the war. They both returned as are listed on the war memorial in Altrincham. Any information would be gratefully received.

I thought war memorials were for those that died during the war

There names are on a Roll of Honour which was in memory of the 161 men of chapel street in Altrincham who volunteered and served in the great war 1914- 1918. 29 men from that street gave there lives. Displayed at the war Memorial in Altrincham.

Following on from the death for Frank that Maddie posted, is this death for a Thomas born c1893 in a similar region just coincidence?

Name: Thomas Wyatt
Birth Date: abt 1893
Date of Registration: Jun 1955
Age at Death: 62
Registration District: Surrey Northern
Inferred County: Surrey
Volume: 5g
Page: 375

Name: Thomas Wyatt
Probate Date: 12 Jul 1955
Death Date: 28 Apr 1955
Death Place: Surrey, England
Registry: London, England

of 40 Hamiliton Avenue Tolworth Surrey dies 28th April 1955 .Probate to Venletta Rose Wyatt Widow. Effects £2149 2s 3d.

Marriage:

Name: Venletta R Parsons
Spouse Surname: Wyatt
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1926
Registration District: Kingston
Inferred County: Surrey
Volume Number: 2a
Page Number: 1016
Thomas Wyatt
Parsons Oct-Nov-Dec 1926 Kingston Surrey

I realise it's a long way from Atrincham. Just speculating.

Probably a red herring.

Also it looks like Venletta was born a Hedges in 1896, and her mother Priscilla married a Thomas John Parsons in 1899. So she married under her stepfather's name.

The tree Maddie mentioned also showed another brother Joseph who also fought and survived WWI.

Census 1901:

Address: 4, Pownall Street, Altrincham County: Cheshire

WYATT, Frank Head Married M 43 1858 Builder's Labourer
Altrincham, Cheshire
WYATT, Annie Wife Married F 38 1863 Knutsford, Cheshire
WYATT, Joseph Son M 12 1889 Evening News Boy Altrincham, Cheshire<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
WYATT, Frank Son M 10 1891 Altrincham, Cheshire<<<<<<<<<<
WYATT, Thomas Son M 7 1894 Altrincham, Cheshire<<<<<<<<<
WYATT, Annie Daughter F 3 1898 Altrincham, Cheshire

That tree has Joseph serving with the Cheshire Regiment.

Thanks Kucinta, I am certainly going to look into the information yourself and Maddie have given me. The Joseph Wyatt serving with the Cheshire regiment is my grandfather. I have failed to find anything about what happened to his two brothers after they came back from war. So I am interested in the info you have both found as they may of moved to that area looking for work. Thankyou
