It might be just from the UK because it is a Bank Holiday weekend. You could try logging on via http://home.ancestry.co.uk/ OR go to the home page, and scroll down.
At the extreme bottom, on the right is says 'Visit our other sites' then a drop down box.

If it doesn't work this weekend, have a look out for similar offers when you have a national holiday ;-)

Refering back to your query about the collection - I found them on Genes. FMP is the sister site to Genes. Although Genes doesn't link to all of their records, they do access quite a few inc BMD for British Consular or Forces abroad

Hi again you said Ancestry have a free access weekend, is it this weekend? I have tried and there isn't?...maybe because I am in NZ ? It is just 12.15am sunday morning here?

Leaving the yob as 1924 with the default +/- 2, I just applied the filters on the left hand side.

If the first was a transcription of the baptism, then the second is probably the gro ref. The image doesn't give any more info.

Dawn Report 23 Aug 2014 12:59

Yes I just did see the first one that you have listed it just gave the transcription not an image.
The second one you listed Butler Vera 1924 births and baptisms India how did you find that I can't seem to find it.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 23 Aug 2014 12:39

Yep - Findmypast (free preview)
Butler Vera 1924 — 1924 Births & baptisms Lahore, Bengal
BUTLER VERA — — 1924 Births & baptisms India

One is probably the Armed Forces gro index

Its more likely to be from FMP. I certainly couldn't find any data base on Ancestry which had any relevance!

Double check, then if it is on FMP alter your title to include those initials. There are several GR members who could access if for you :-)

There is no guarentee that the Egyptian born Elsie May is the one you wanted, but worth a shot. You could order her BC from GRO perhaps naming her father as a checking point

Hi again Can you tell me where and how you found these as I am looking on Ancestry and can't see that collection? I know a while back I did find my brother and son's birth in Germany on the same collection but can't seem to find it now?

Dawn Report 23 Aug 2014 12:14

Hi no I haven't seen the images and didn't know they had a free weekend! I'll try and see if I can view the image thank you. The record I saw was called British India office births/baptisms maybe it was Findmypast? I have a sub for just 'Britain' on that site so maybe that is where I saw this entry and now know why I Elsie May wasn't there!!

Hi, I have found a Vera Butler 1924 Lahore India on the ancestry index could some kind person look up the record for me Thanks! There is another child a girl Elsie May born to the same parents in India but I couldn't find her.
The father Charles Butler born 1889 in Nottingham, I have found on the 1911 census in India, he carried on into WW1 then married Sarah Burnikell! in 1917 in Newcastle and it seems went to India after WW1, but haven't been able to find him on any records! I have checked births in England from 1917 to 1925 and there aren't any to this mother.
Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.
Regards Dawn
