No. 17236
6th Battalion, The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.
Killed in Action: 15/02/1917

Wondering does anyone have access to Forces War Records, and could possibly give me details of any information on Herbert contained in the following document

Also looking for any other information in connection with his Military Service or where I might obtain information.

Many thanks

Have you checked the CWGC site? It might be the same thing. There’s nothing extra to add
https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/1656415/cooper,-herbert-allen/

Over 70% of WW1 records were destroyed during WW2. Those which survived are listed on the National Archives with links to Ancestry. Medal cards were kept elsewhere- you can sometimes work out the ‘when’ if not the ‘where’. Regimental histories free on line can fill in some of the gaps.

This is a good site for a potted history of regimental movements, battles etc. It also has a section about medals & their qualifying dates.

http://www.longlongtrail.co.uk

Regimental diaries are on the National Archives, May be linked to Ancestry. Although he probably won’t be mentioned by name, you could find the entry for the day he died.
