Hi
Trying to find out if James Giles & Michael Giles were brothers.
James was in the 8th Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers, died of his wounds 28th April 1916.
Michael was in the 1st Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers, kia 29th Sept. 1918.
They both seem to appear in the 1901 and 1911 census in Dublin.
I have found their graves.
Thanking you in advance.
Francis

If this is Michael in 1901, then his father was also a John, and he did have a brother called James.

Michael Giles
in the Web: Ireland, Census, 1901
Name: Michael Giles
Gender: Male
Age: 12
Birth Year: abt 1889
Relation to Head: Son
Residence Date: 31 Mar 1901

We don't know James's YOB, from the military records.

For what it's worth (not necessarily much) Ancestry seems to think he's the same James.

We need something to give us the DOB of the James who died.

Perhaps to save helpers some research and posting, here's another thread about them - but no DOB for James:

A tree on Ancestry (tree owner Lisa Jane M ) claims that John & Mary's son James born 1895 is the one who died in 1916 - but doesn't provide proof - only the censuses and other records posted above.

I've spoken to Micheal Giles grandsons and they had never known that James Giles
their grand uncle might have been killed in the war.
I think that it looks very likely they were brothers.
