The 1881 SCT census is not online at the LDS site - it's only on their CDs. However, the advanced search option there is useful up to abt 1875. It's also useful to use the batch #s at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm
A record having a batch # beginning with C/E/M is an extract from an old parish register, or the GRO(S) index. Records without the batch # (and some other inital letters) are submitted (by LDS members, mostly) and are of variable quality and reliability.
