Could someone tell me if they know any details for Charles Reynolds Bird born in Shepparton Vic. Australia around 1900 & died in March 1976 in Malvern, Vic. Australia. I would like to know his parents names so I can search further. Thank You, Glenice

I assume you have his 1925 marriage already?

Arthur George and Mary Helen married in 1894 in Vic (reg 4647). He is shown as born in Eaglehawk and she in Bendigo. Arthur died in Shepparton in 1931 aged 62, son of Alfred & Ellen (reg 11596). Mary died in Mooroopna in 1942 aged 70 (reg 28113).

Arthur George BIRD was born in Eaglehawk in 1868 to Alfred John BIRD & Ellen HAW (reg 23064).

Alfred & Ellen married in Victoria in 1856 (reg 1135). They lived in California Gully, Eaglehawk & Nerring. Alfred was a miner (he was declared insolvent in June 1865 due to family illness). Arthur was 7th of 9 chn born 1858-1874 (4 died in infancy, one aged 4 and one aged 18).

Alfred John died in 1876 aged only 43, son of Wm & Sarah Pond (nee MOTT) (reg 5245). His death reg shows he was born in Essex. He was buried at Eaglehawk Cemetery on 8 June 1876.

Ellen remarried in 1881 to Yorkshire-born Samuel PAGET (showing her as also b. Yorkshire). She died as Ellen PAGET in 1903 in Eaglehawk aged 65, daughter of Thos HAW & Elizabeth BLACKSTONE (reg 13195); she was buried at Eaglehawk Cemetery on 11th Dec 1903. Her 2nd husband Samuel died in Eaglehawk in 1905 aged 66.

Mary Helen PRYCE was born in Sandhurst in 1871 to Wm Reynolds PRYCE & Helen Lothan Begg NEILSON (reg 11925). Wm and Helen married in Victoria in 1868 (reg2006); Wm was from Cornwall and Helen from Stirling. Mary was 2nd of 8 chn (7 girls!) born 1869-1887 all in Sandhurst, all surviving.

William Reynolds PRYCE died in Bendigo in 1893 aged 59, son of George & Elizabeth (nee REYNOLDS) (reg 4986). He was buried at Bendigo Cemetery on 28th June 1893. His wife Helen was buried with him some 40 years later, on 23rd Oct 1933, aged 87.

At least now you know where the middle name Reynolds came from!

Thomas & Elizabeth HAW were in Victoria by 1855. They lived in Forest Creek, California Gully, Nerring, Eaglehawk & Sandhurst. They had a further 5 children in Vic 1855-1865 (2 surviving).

Elizabeth HAW died in 1880 aged 60, born Yorkshire to Samuel BLACKSTONE (reg 6815).
