There is no Barningham/Ashby marriage registered in the last qtr. of 1926. Could you have the date wrong? Kath. x

Thanks to you all for the replies. It does look as if I will have to order the certs to get more details. Am I correct in thinking that this is the only way to do this? Karen

Yes Karen. If the marriages are after the 1901 census, then you need to order the certificates. Before that date it is sometimes possible to trace the people through the earlier census to find their parents or spouse. Once you have bought the marriage certificates, hopefully they will give you the couple's father's names and occupations and an address, and you can go about trying to find the fathers on the 1901 census. You will also have the bride and grooms approximate ages (sometimes people lied so they might not be correct) and you can then look for their birth reference. Kath. x
