Thomas Parker was born about 1780 in Somerset (probably Croscombe) and worked as a butcher in the High Street in Wells, Somerset. There is a record of an 80+ year old Thomas dying in Wells in 1868 in which case he should appear in the 1861 census. I'd like to know where he's living , who with and confirmation of age and birthplace please. He was my 3 x great grandfather. Phil

Thank you very much June. This would appear to be another Thomas so I would conclude that 'my' Thomas died in 1849 though I can't be 100% certain. Another angle would be to see if his wife Elizabeth, also born about 1780 per the 1841 census appears in the 1851 census as a widow with other known family members. Regards, Phil

Thank you very much - this is a surprise! It's opening up a new branch of the family about which I knew nothing! It also begs more questions! I'm descended from Jonas Lucas Parker b. Croscombe c.1813 who married Shelomith Lucas in June 1842 in Bristol and ran the butchers at 43 High St.Wells. How many Parker butcher shops were there on the High St.?!!! Josiah must be an elder brother. I had assumed Jonas took his wife's surname for his second name on marriage but we have Tom Lucas Parker in the picture here !?! What exactly is the relationship of Elizabeth to the Cock family?? I guess that Christiana was her daughter rather than grand daughter! Thanks again for the excellent help. Phil
