Hi,

I am trying to find more information on the parents and siblings of Thomas Messenger, born 1905 in Epwell Oxfordshire.

This is my mothers father and i know very little about him as he died when i was born.

If you know the name of his wife - or your mother's mother - you should be able to find his marriage certificate. This should give the name of his father and might help you locate the family on 1901 census.

If you apply for his birth cert that will give you his parents' names - you then find their marriage certificate - and then you'll be back pre-1901 and can track them down in census returns.

(Of course if they weren't married ... you might need to approach it slightly differently but fingers crossed)

Here's a family residing in Epwell in 1901. Although there is a Thomas born earlier, it is possible that he may have died and your grandfather was the next son born and was named after him. Just a thought!

The census lists Ann as married but no Benjamin (he may have been off to another farm). They were agricultural lab.

hi i am also looking 4 ann messenger born aprox 1943 , in the workinton whitehaven area and she had a daughter 1963 ? cumbria
