A genes reunited response to not being able to log in:

"Hi guys - All of those who choose to stay logged in are given a cookie so that we can remember you when you come back to the site. This cookie also tracks other things, and if you are a frequent user of the site it can get too large and starts to dispose of it's oldest tracked data. This could be why the site does not remember you and makes you log in again. We are going to look into this and see if we can alter the way it works. Apologies for any inconvenience."

JoyDean Report 15 Feb 2012 17:26

Just logged in.

This is the only site in which this happens. My computer is only used by me and it is totally up to date concerning browser etc.

AnninGlos Report 15 Feb 2012 16:31

Had to log in again today Lol!!!!

SylviaInCanada Report 14 Feb 2012 19:53

reply no. 6 in the sequence of emails

Thank you for taking the time to write back to us.

I also apologise for the time it is taking to correct these errors. I will pass your comments over to Estelle.

Kind Regards,

big sigh ..............................

AnninGlos Report 14 Feb 2012 09:12

Ah, getting better that is twice this week I have come straight in without logging in :-)

JoyDean Report 13 Feb 2012 22:00

I sometimes sign in once, twice, not bother etc, Ann :)

But why should we have to take roundabout journeys? The site should function properly without its customers going round in circles to enable it to function.

AnninGlos Report 13 Feb 2012 21:37

Joy, when I am directed to that first sign in dialogue box now I ignore it an click on one of the community boards, I then log in at the top of that board and it works, at least I am only logging/signing in once. :-)

JoyDean Report 13 Feb 2012 20:58

It has always been a small team which is why I wish Bright Solid would spend money on employing more staff to enable the site to function properly.

Prioritising is important, certainly, and the issues have been ongoing, as agreed by genes reunited staff, for well over 12 months.

SylviaInCanada Report 13 Feb 2012 19:28

Today's email in the sequence from GR, from Estelle:-

"we are really sorry for all the problems you have been having. All of the details ahve been passed on to Phil and the tehnical team. You are not the only one experiencing these error messages. Phil will take a look at this when time allows. As I am sure you udnerstand our technical team are very busy. They are quite a small team and work on problems in order of priority.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience."

I replied as follows:-

"I do understand that the development team is very busy. But it is also very frustrating when all these problems are not being sorted, and corrected.

It does, however, seem to me that having a correctly operating system, with problems experienced by members being corrected, would be of higher priority than is seemingly the case. After all, many of these problems have been on-going for almost 6 months.

I know of many members who have given up in disgust, and left the site. I'm still hanging in there ........ but even my patience is running out!

I know what GR can do .................. and am still hoping that it will soon be back to that."

now to wait again ........... and again .............. 'cos it is upto the development team!

JoyDean Report 13 Feb 2012 17:09

Obliged to sign in once, waited and was led to sign in again.
:-| :-(

AnninGlos Report 13 Feb 2012 16:30

I have to say here that I am impressed by the way I* have had a lot of e mails trying to help, Alex, Lisa and now Estelle have all done their best and are all flummoxed. But I have said it is merely frustrating not life threatening so I'll continue to log in.

AnninGlos Report 13 Feb 2012 08:35

Oh, back to signing in this morning.

SylviaInCanada Report 12 Feb 2012 20:28

I had no problem opening about an hour ago.

No problem opening Inbox, Suggestions, threads, or moving from page to page within a thread.

Have not yet tried My Threads.

I do now have in my Bookmarks for immediate use in the event decides to act up

AnninGlos Report 12 Feb 2012 10:15

Kense I am the only one who uses this pc.

Surprise though, this morning I did not have to sign in/log in. I did nothing different at all and came straight in. Now explain that one!

SylviaInCanada Report 12 Feb 2012 00:57

IGP .......... your posting makes sense, except that I cannot understand why it should happen ONLY with GR, and not with any of the other sites that I visit.

Ann ........... I do have to enter my email address.

I have this computer set up to automatically remember sign ins and passwords for most of my site.

When I have to log in on GR, I am faced with 2 blank boxes, 1 for email address and 1 for password.

I only type the first letter of my email address, and a drop down box appears that contains that address. I click on that, and then the password is automatically added. All I have to do then is click on Go

However, approximately 50% of the time, I am then taken to another sign in page............... where I have tor repeat the whole operation once again, just like Ann has found.

JoyDean Report 11 Feb 2012 17:05

"I actually have to put in my e mail address every time I have to log in. Do you?"

- in this site, yes, most of the time, unless it decides to put it for me, sometimes putting Password in place of the email address.

- in other sites: no, never.

Kense Report 11 Feb 2012 16:31

No, email and password are set up. However if you are not the only one using the PC then that may not be possible.

AnninGlos Report 11 Feb 2012 15:16

I actually have to put in my e mail address every time I have to log in. Do you?

Kense Report 11 Feb 2012 09:48

I agreee IGP, when I made my last post I forgot that this thread was supposed to be about logging in.

Like you when I have to log in again is is a simple one click operation.

AnninGlos Report 11 Feb 2012 09:46

IGP, Thank you, at least that is a comprehensive explanation and I will get my OH to check me that I have everything checked that should be with my browser. I did look and couldn't see any problems but I may have missed something. What is annoying is I get taken to the page which asks me to sign in, I do and then click on one of the boards, I am then asked to log in before I can reply. But my little brain tells me I have just done that. I don't understand why twice. But it is really no big deal so I can't be bothered to get worked up about it. :-) :-)

Sylvia mine times out frequently but I just assume it is the system not coping, annoying but not life threatening I suppose.

And for both of the above, what I think, puzzles people is the fact that this did not happen, or not all the time, before the latest big update.
