WHY ARE WE STUCK WITH A TREE THAT DOESN'T WORK?

Hmmmmmm

Been reading other postings

A lot of people have a lot of opinions.... and have their say.

Postings on lots of boards...... where people have their say.

Funny (not!) about that

Scozz, you should be so lucky?

No i don't follow anyone around

I simply surf the boards reading most threads and adding to some of them if i have something to say/add

You are as is everyone else entitled to add to threads and start your own thread but having contributed on most if not all threads relating to the problems caused by the new v old tree/errors and changes

But my point is that starting 4 threads on the same topic on top of your other input is excessive and is pushing the board guidelines over the limit

When a member posts about the same enquiry on 4 different occasions/threads they would be reminded about not duplicating in a flash and no doubt the RR brigade would have had a field day so why should you be any different?

Nothing personal its just my observations ;-)

Yes, I have commented on the same subject on different boards.

I've noticed others posting about the same subject on other boards too.

Roy ~ are you following me?

You've mentioned this on other boards.

Have removed my last post after getting a real reply from Genes.

I can sympathise with those who have received generic answers that have no bearing on their original message.

Good.

I'm looking for attention.

FROM GR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kense Report 22 Jul 2012 11:20

Scozz, if you don't renew you will still have the new tree but you won't be able to post how awful it is.

;-)

Scozz, We all no the failings of GR
most of use have had these generic responses and responses that bear no relevance to the problems on GR ever since bright solid took over,

You are not the only one who feels that way,
you have input on every thread on the boards as others have related to this last catalogue of errors by GR

But you also have 4 threads about this same problem why not just stick to the one thread ?

Having 4 threads about the same thing appears/looks like attention seeking

I have sent LOADS of emails to GR.

I get generic responses most of the time, and no real answers when they bother replying.

No help. They usually talk down to me!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Fed up with this shambles.

I post on lots of boards - mainly to find out if other people are having the same problems. Are they? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I agree Roy, but what are members supposed to do when they contact GR & recieve a standard response which may or may not deal with their problem. Or worse, be told that it´s their PC/operating system/browser that´s causing their problems.
Perhaps this board should be re titled "Complaints board"

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 21 Jul 2012 15:08

Wisechild, Yes it does matter whether the tree works or not as the case may be but that is even more reason to use the facility provided to report/give feedback,

GR have been active on the boards asking people for members to report/give feedback using the facility provided,

The boards are not for feedback,

and this the suggestions board its for constructive suggestions to improve the site and not for complaints

Surely the important thing is not whether you pay or not. All that matters is that the tree works, which this new one clearly does not.
Don´t use it personally, just making an observation.
I pay basic membership just to access the boards because as far as I can see, Genes doesn´t give value for money for anything else.

DazedConfused Report 21 Jul 2012 14:34

As Porkie has said - non paying members can have a tree on here.

That is not part of the paying membership package.

:-)

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 21 Jul 2012 14:17

YOU DO NOT PAY FOR THE TREE ON GR

You have got 4 different threads on this subject why don't you send the feedback to GR using the facility provided

posting constantly about this on the boards will not achieve anything

They need the feedback and then the time to analyse it then the time to implement any changes

and then they need time for further feedback to either confirm the changes have or have not worked

Other sites beta test for months before they get thing working correctly GR has had this beta site up 2 days FGS

I thought I'd try the new tree again. If it worked, I may reconsider renewing my membership. What a joke. This is the email I have sent to GR (an email, not a contact message)

Dear Team

I tried to use the new tree. I have a few weeks left on my membership, so I thought I'd give it a try, see if it's worth reconsidering renewal.

I have about 80 new names to add, so first thing to do is search for that family. I began searching for Margaret Rutherford b1877. I got a message, she's not on my tree. So I searched for her father, Thomas Rutherford b1842. Thomas is on my tree, with his wife, and his 10 children, including Margaret 1877.

Why did the search not work?

I already had a spouse for Margaret (I haven't added her children yet), so I tried to add spouses to her siblings. John Rutherford b1864 married Elizabeth Snaddon. Found John, added Elizabeth Snaddon, then went to the next section, added details for Elizabeth, middle name of Paterson, born 9 Dec 1863 Castle Douglas, died 19 Aug 1949, and added her parents, Robert Snaddon & Jane Allan. Back to Elizabeth..... but where is John? Elizabeth & her parents are sitting there by themselves, the arrows don't work. So then I searched for John again; found him, but with no spouse! I exited the tree, and went back in. Searched for Elizabaeth Snaddon, found TWO of them, Elizabeth Snaddon b1863 & Elizabeth Paterson Snaddon b1863. BOTH of them married to John Rutherford. I DID NOT ENTER HER NAME TWICE!!!!

Why is Elizabeth there twice?

During this very frustrating time I sent THREE contact messages to GR. I noticed on each one a message, can't remember the exact wording, something like you couldn't respond to every message you receive. So I decided to send an email and I want a response, with an answer to my questions.

I have not added the spouses to the other Rutherford children. Why would I bother? Your new tree would probably duplicate everyone I add!!

And your email said YOU were upset because I wasn't renewing my subscription!!!

I've said it before, but I'll say it again - WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS BROKEN???

I've said this before also - THE OLD TREE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN REMOVED UNTIL THE NEW TREE IS WORKING PROPERLY!

Give me ONE - Just ONE good reason WHY I should reconsider renewing my membership.
