COMPATABILITY

I acces the web from several different public places. It has been getting worse that the new tree displays properly in some places not others and how it does keeps changing, I can never be certain what will happen in each place where I try.

The fault involves the screen content being squeezed into small spaces. Seeing only a small part of the tree, behind the direction arrows, and the notes box getting squeezed in height so that I can't see much without scrolling. But today the notes box is squeezed to just 1 line in height and the scrolling strip is not appearing.

Ken, You are correct, And Old browsers don't have compatibility view

If Internet Explorer recognizes a webpage that is not compatible, you will see the Compatibility View icon button on the Address bar.

If the page is compatible then it will NOT give you the option

So the fact that some members can change between the two indicates that its the design of the web site that is the problem and so GR need to sort it out and stop blaming members browsers (GR get rid of the bugs and design faults in YOUR system)

This idea that members need to update is just WRONG and i have said before that members should not have to update/change browsers to use and web site all modern web sites are supposed to be compatible with all modern browsers

I would rather put a hammer through my PC and get rid of the Internet altogether than download Google Chrome

What I don't understand about this situation is that Compatibility View is designed for a modern browser to display a website that has been designed for an old browser.

Since GR is designed for the latest versions of Firefox, IE and Chrome, why should Compatibility View be necessary?

What you need to remember when a web site is undergoing constant changes as GR are doing whilst trying to resove members problems you need to clear your cache regularly i do mine twice a day at the moment when using GR just using compatibility view will help but not on it's own,

see my post on Richards thread, link below

To view my tree properly, to search my tree, and to add/edit names ~ compatability OFF

To get a list of everyone on my tree ~ compatability ON

To use emoticons on the boards ~ compatability ON

Is there anything else I should know about this fiddly way of doing things??

Oops! I just noticed the compatability is OFF, so I'll have to copy & paste this, click it to ON, so that I can add lots of...
