I found them!!! Had a reply back from my letter and would you believe less than a month before they were on holiday here in New Zealand. So disappointed I never got the meet them, but thrilled to be in contact with the family now.

Camile Joseph ARNAUD (note different middle name) was killed in the French War and Alan's brother Peter has been trying to do the family tree as well. Looking forward to finding out about my missing family.

Many thanks to all who helped, would not have achieved the results with out it.

THANK YOU.

I didn''t know that, just assumed that some one had made a mistake and they were not sure which surname it should be. You learn some thing new every day, thank you.

Have gone back to see if I could find her other marriage, but can't find any thing for a HOWARD/FREEMAN. Dorothy M. HOWARD was born 1916, so she was 24 years old when she married Lucien Victor ARNAUD, who was born 1913, making him 27 years old.

The three children Alan, Mary & Peter were under the Arnaud/Howard name just like you said they would be as her maiden name.

Many thanks for your help.

When 2 surnames are given for marriage, usually means the female has been married before, so the marriage will be in the wife's previously married surname, but the children will have her original maiden name on their birth records.

WHEN LUCIEN MARRIED DOROTHY, SHE APPEARS TO GAVE BEEN USING TWO SURNAMES, FREEMAN & HOWARD. YOU MAY NEED TO LOOK FOR BIRTHS UNDER BOTH NEE NAMES,

oops!! think I have made a blue. Philip and Stephen ARNAUD are not Alan's children. When I really looked to see where I could go further, realised that Alan ARNAUD and Ann HARRISON married in 1961. The boys were born in the 1950's and also out of the Middlesex/Surrey area.

Thank you for all your time Patricia, really appreciated it. Have had a look at the 1960's children born, seems quite a few, so will have to do some more digging.

Yes I have checked for the names in all the search trees, there is nothing there, that is the first place I looked.

The family should be in the Middlesex - Surrey or around those areas. Did find a person with the ARNAUD name and wrote to them but never replied.

There is an Alan E Arnaud on the electoral register, as is Nicholas P Arnaud at a different area.

Have you looked for those names in the search trees on here?

Camille Victor ARNAUD married Maud Ellen Gertrude COOPER 1912, they had one son Lucien Victor ARNAUD 1913.

Lucien married Dorothy M. HOWARD 1940, they had Alan E - Mary - Peter.

Alan married Ann R HARRISON and had a son Nicholas P.

Mary married Murray L DENHAM and have two daughters Chloe & Fay.

If any one knows this family in England I would love to here from them. They all belong to my grandfather's family and it has taken over 30 years of searching to get this far.
