Find Ancestors

My gr. gr. aunt Julia Clayton (sometimes spelt differently as in Clowton or Cloughton) was born c1851 in Felsted, Essex. She went to work as a domestic servant in London and in 1884 she married a William Lamden c1845 of Cobham, Surrey. Since then, they have not appeared in the 1891, 1901 or 1911 census, so I must assume that they could have emigrated. Does anyone have any information on their whereabouts please? Susan

the parents of Julia? I would suggest it would be best to keep all the info in one thread (this one), otherwise info that could help searchers is missing from each, and the risk of duplicated effort is very high.


That thread says:

My gr.gr. grandparents were James Clowton c1824 of Stebbing, Essex and Emma Poulter c1828 of Felsted, Essex. By 1881 they had changed the spelling of their surname to Clayton and had moved from Essex to 127 Wortley Road, Kimberworth, York where James worked as a railway labourer. This is the last time that I can find them. Does anyone have any information about them please?

Thanks everyone for your help. Apologies for getting in a muddle with two different threads, but I had posted the message about my gr.gr.aunt first, then wondered about her parents whereabouts.
The marriage registration that I have does give Julia marrying William Lamden 14.4.1884 and his profession is a coachman. The marriage is witnessed by her sister's husband and also Ellen Lamden, William's sister. I had searched through the various censuses, but had not come up with them, presumably because of all the mistakes in their names. I had however found a death of a Julia Lamden in 1934, which I presume is her. All this information has helped me to move forward. Thanks again. Susan
