Sorry about the delayed reply - I'd no idea there would be such interest and help. It feels a bit overwhelming! I've spoken to my source (Gwendoline's daughter) who tells me that she is not certain of her mother's year of birth, so FannybyGaslight's info looks likely. The son Alcuin?? may be Alcwyn. There is an Alcwyn Evans registered as born Llanelly 1909, which fits with the 1911 census record, and Gwendoline's daughter's recollection of the name. Once again thanks so much for all the help. I'll keep looking at these threads so that I may be able to return the favours

We had a birth for Gwendoline, one for Harry and here's one for Idris. Can't find one for Alcuin/ Alwyn with mother's name Evans.

Methinks maybe your going to drown if you go for her mothers maiden name being Evans,so a sheaf of straws maybe???.;)

I find often that people get the birth year wrong patchem ,which is why I had a look at what was given for her age on death on SP.....

And you missed all my long post with 1911 and the parents marriage on????

To be certain that you have the correct families you will need to invest in certs along the way...

Just to add that all Llanelli/y BMDs are now held at Carmarthen and they take up to and more than 3 weeks to send a cert if you have to have one searched..

Scottish death certs normally give both parents names and mothers maiden name(if known)What does it say on the death cert please?

If you do not have it it may be of some help to purchase it...

As she died in Scotland, the death certificate would have the names of both her parents on it. Unfortunately you would need to purchase a copy as the death register images only go up to 1960 on scotlandspeople.

Her birth. I was hoping her mother had a distinctive surname but sadly, she had Evans as well!!
