hit a brick wall.

my Father had a letter from his Father dated 1928
and he was still alive then.

Of course, Alfred may have emigrated. Also there was an Alfred born the following year also in the London area so he may have been the one that you found on the 1911 census?

Hi - Alfred Gooch born May 1893 at Islington London
I have located an Alfred Gooch in the 1911 Census which
may fit his description - he was a seaman - but not sure
where to go from here - any help finding this person would
be just great.

Alfred born 19th June 1865 - married to Caroline Wolf.Its like he just vanished.

Thanks for your email - after all these years we have located Annie Gooch
born 15 Oct 1890 Islington.Still looking for Alfred Junior born 2nd May
1893 Islington.Parents Caroline & Alfred Gooch - Caroline died at aged
38 yrs so he may have been put in a foster home - like my Father Herbert
Edward was whom came to NZ to live.

Not sure what info you have but hope some of this is new to you.

Annie J. 18. 1833. Dau. Born Colchester.
Alfred 14. 1887. Son. Born Colchester. Oil Shop asst.

Birth of Annie Janet Gooch. 1882. April/June Qtr. reg in Colchester. vol 4a 437. If this is the correct Annie, then her birth certificate will show both her parents names and Mothers maiden name.
This should help in trying to trace the marriage of her parents for sure.

I have managed to find one, but the dates are wrong. Alfred to Louisa Knight. 1887 July/Sept. Qtr. reg in Lewisham. vol 1d 1526. Very long shot.

I have tried to get back with Samuel's family to find a brother Alfred but cannot get to him except where he is married.
He is on 1861, 1871, and 1881 with wife Mary and family.Cannot get him before marriage.
