Desperately trying to find Louisa Greenaway bn 1840 in Chichester Sussex and married to John Crossman Dawe. Living in Hackney London working in the Hackney Workhouse. My interest is their son Alfred James Dawe, bn 1875 in Hackney - my Great Great Grandfather.

Hi Selena - thanks for all of the above, most of which I was aware of. The marriage for Alfred to Louisa Skevington is correct - my paternal Great Grandparents. I don't think that the death of John Crossman Dawe is the correct one as although a strange name - that one crops up a couple of times on various census's. With regards to Louisa's marriage certificate - unfortunately I haven't as yet managed to trace it or her birth certificate.

But her age is written as 48 on the image.

Hello
We are researching the DAWE family, and believe that John Crossman DAWE b 1828/9 in Bickleigh Devon was the father of Louisa's children. He is elusive, and know we have him in 1851, and think we have him in 1861 and 1871.. He is found in 1891 . We believe he was prosecuted for fraud . and i will forward some details later.
We are also unable to find a marriage entry to date for Louisa GREENAWAY .
If it is Louisa who is found in 1911 detailed as widow aged 69 with the details -married 22 years 4 children 1 died, it might indicate a marriage circa 1872, ie 22 years before John Crossman DAWE died.
