Great, Dea! Confirmation of the Nairn-Hamilton connection, anyway!

I had tried searching for Nesta and Georgina as Hamilton; I forgot Olga??

Also tried for their marriages/deaths as Hamilton; Georgina would be problematic, but Nesta is likely unique, and couldn't find anything for her.

Oh, except for a 1941 marriage of Georgina M Nairn to Arthur Ferris, which I thought a little late ...

Hi Fred - first, a request. If you hit the "Enter" key occasionally to space out your text, it makes it easier to follow. One very long sentence with no punctuation is a big headache.

"hi as this is all new to me it takes me abit of time to digest all the info
fred born1901 was my grandad
his father also fred was asfar as iam led to believe
his wife was a nairn."

Whose wife was a nairn, Fred? Fred 1901, or his father? His father, I think?

"my grandad had either a sister or half sister named olga born late 1800 "

Yes, she's the one whose birth I gave you above. What I showed there was Olga in the 1901 census with her mother Ellen Nairn.

I also showed you the marriage of George Nairn and Ellen Boyd, the parents of Olga, Georgina and Nesta.

"asmy great grandad was atraveling salesman i am finding it difficult to trace him .
the only olga i could find was aolga nairn born 1899 liverpool i know she married a trinidadian named brown."

How do you know about her husband? I found you her marriage there, to James Brown, but you know more about him. Are you in touch with her family?

"my grandad was married to williamina dow 06061922 in edinburgh
hope there is enough info
thanks fred hamilton livingston"

Your granddad's marriage record should give both his parents' names. You can find it at

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

You have to register (free) to search, and buy credits to see actual documents.

If Olga was your Fred's half-sister, and her father had died by 1901, that must mean that her mother Ellen remarried? or had a child named Hamilton.

Problem is that there is no death for a George Nairn to fit. And there is no marriage of a Hamilton and a Nairn.

So it looks like George Nairn and Ellen were estranged, and she partnered with Fred Hamilton after the 1901 census.

You said:

"fred had a son born liverpool 19 12 1901"

-- so that was Frederick. Do you have his birth certificate?? You need that so you can tell us both his parents' names.

Would this be his birth? --

Births Dec 1901
HAMILTON Frederick Liverpool 8b 103

If it is, and you don't have his birth certificate, you need to get it.

I'm afraid I can't identify a single one of these people in the 1911 census. Maybe someone with a subscription can do better than me.

I also can't see a marriage or death for Georgina Nairn or Nesta Nairn.

As far as I can tell, it seems that Ellen Boyd who married George Nairn was the mother of Georgina, Nesta an Olga Nairn and of Fred Hamilton 1901.

Unfortunately there is no Hamilton + Nairn marriage, or even Hamilton + Boyd marriage.

So the best thing to do is get that Frederick Hamilton birth certificate and see whether it matches with the info you have, and tells you anything else.

1901 census

Name: Olga E Nairn
Age: 2
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1899
Relation: Daughter
Mother's Name: Ellen J
Where born: Liverpool, Lancashire, England

Civil parish: Everton

Ellen J Nairn 36 - widow, laundress, born Aldershot, Hampshire
Georgina M Nairn 9 - born Manchester
Nesta E Nairn 5 - born Liverpool
Olga E Nairn 2

So Georgina and Nesta were sisters of Olga.

Where does Fred Hamilton come into this?

Ellen Nairn in 1891 in Chorlton:

Ann Boyd 57 - Ellen's mother
Ellen Nairn 30 - married
Samuel Boyd 18
Elizabeth Jones 57

Marriages Sep 1881
BARBER Mary Chorlton 8c 1040
> BOYD Ellen Chorlton 8c 1040
BROWN Henry Chorlton 8c 1040
> NAIRN George Chorlton 8c 1040

Since I don't want to
(a) go off on a wild goose chase
or
(b) spoil your own fun of searching for more

I'll wait for clarification.

Is this Olga Nairn?

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl - to search FreeBMD

Births Dec 1898
Nairn Olga Emily W. Derby 8b 255

A daughter born to Fred and a woman to whom he was not then married?

Marriages Sep 1918
Nairn Olga Brown Liverpool 8b 138

The transcription is incorrect or incomplete at FreeBMD; husband's name is James Brown.

Hi Frederick - can you clarify what you're looking for? Fred's ancestors, or living family - or both?

You probably have other info you can offer, either way.

The name of the son born in Liverpool in 1901? Fred's wife's name, and when they married?

Why would Fred's daughter Olga have had the birth surname Nairn?

Were Georgina and Nesta the sisters of Fred himself?

And any other info you have that could help find what you're looking for!
