I am trying to find more about William Stock 1821-1859 who married a Mary Butcher and had just the one son william born 1850. Lived in Great Dunmow Essex. I have found out about the son and cannot find any other siblings. William Jnr married a Barbara Chapman. Anything to get me started again as I cannot find William the elder on any census before williams birth. |

Thanks so much for all this guys. So I guess that makes sense as to why I cannot find Mary either. Looks like its more likely to be HOY rather then ROY as her 2nd husbands name but then I was told by someone that although the vicars at the time were usually educated in Oxford or someplace they still relied on hearing neames at the baptisms and so names were written down as they were heard. So Hoy changed to Roy midflow. |
