If you want I can see if I can find a baptism record for him. The Jersey Archive is just down the road.

Hi Sylvia,
Once again you have come to my aid.
Many thanks indeed. Apologies for my being tardy in reply.
James Le Bas was Catherine's first husband m NZ 1866. He died in Jan 1875 in NZ. They had 5 children.
In Oct the same year Catherine then married my G Gfather Henry Joseph Rogers and they proceeded to have 8 more children.
Although we are only related through Catherine I would like to put the info in my tree because his children were my grandfathers half brothers and sisters.

Hi Judith

Just been and had a bit of a delve into the parish records, below are the results :)

St Clement baptism - Feb 19th, 1837
James John son of Mr Jean and Mistress Jane Rachel Coutanche (obviously quite posh!)
godparents - Jean Monnamy, gent, and Mistress Esther Monnamy

St Brelade marriage - Dec 20th 1823
Jean Le Bas and Jeanne Rachel Coutanche of Trinity

Trinity baptism - Aug 18th 1800
Jeanne Rachel daughter of Charles and Jeanne Le Bas
godparents Jean Coutanche and Rachel Nicole

sibling baptisms
Feb 14th 1796 Marie
gp Jean Le Bas and Marie Alexandre (his wife)

Dec 5th 1797 Philippe
gp Charles Coutanche, Elizabeth Marie Marett de Mors and Philippe Pinel

Sept 12th Margaret
gp Jean Le Boutillier and Marie Coutanche (his wife)

St Saviour marriage 21/11/1793
Charles Coutanche of Trinity to Jeanne Le Bas of St Peter.

Poss baptism for Charles
Aug 3rd 1766 Charles son of Amyce Jnr and Jeanne Marett

There were quite a few siblings for that Charles but I ran out of time - let me know if you want me to carry on delving. I suppose it might be worth looking for a death for James's wife Mary Ann.

All the best

Pam
