My previous posting was on 10th March 2009 and from a very positive response I have been able to find out more. Edith was an orphan at St.Etheldreda Childrens home Bedford from 1879-1881. She was born in Ealing Middlesex in 1876 to William Page (1844) and Emma Pick (1844). William died in 1878 when she was 2 years old and her mother abandoned her. In the 1881 census an Edith Page was found living with Thomas and Jane Page at 5 St. Marys Cott Ealing who had a child Agnes born in 1873. Had this family adopted her and was there a family connection with her father William? In the 1891 census she is a servant in the "Hindom" family but is this my Edith, my grandmother, and where did she go from there?
She married my grandfather Benjamin Bertram Brookes in Hailsham in 1908.
