Trying to find any information on Edith Evelyn Bushby, wife of George Francis Taylor. Edith died in 1896 aged 30 in the Italian Hospital, Queen's Square, London shortly after giving birth to her daughter Emily Taylor. At the time of her death, Edith Bushby and George Taylor lived at 108 Rosebery Avenue, Clerkenwell. Edith was buried in Queen's Road Cemetery, Croydon. Also looking for any information on Eliza Bushby who lived at 55 Risinghill Street, Pentonville in 1896. Eliza Bushby registered Edith Bushby's baby's birth. Eliza may have been Edith Bushby's sister or mother.

Rose - I haven't found a birth or marriage for Edith either despite searching for months! Not knowing where she was born doesn't help. I don't know when or where George was born either. Assuming he was born around the same time as Edith, there are dozens of possible births for George Taylors, too many to order certificates for.
Minnie - Thank you, that is the correct death reg for Edith, but I already have a copy of her death certificate. I also have Edith and George's daughter Emily's birth certificate (Emily was my Grandmother) which gives her mother's name as 'Edith Taylor (deceased) formerly Bushby'.
Rootgatherer - Thank you, that looks like a possibility, I will check that one out.
Ann of Green Gables - Thank you, I have the Albany Row, Camberwell Bushbys (1881) as a possibility. The Edith Bushby at the Butchers shop, Wonersh, is sadly too young at 8 months, my Edith would be about 15 or 16 yrs old in 1881.
Denise - Yes, I do have another similar thread running. The other one concentrates on George Francis Taylor. Maybe I should have combined them in one thread, but I was hoping this made things clearer, sorry if I've annoyed anyone by doing it this way.
Thank you all for your help, it's very much appreciated!

Where is Emily in 1901?

Hi Rose
When Edith died Emily was fostered at 3 weeks old by a Mrs Reynolds in Brighton. I believe she was only with Mrs Reynolds for a very short time. She was then adopted privately by a childless couple, George Emmen and his wife Jane from Shoreditch, London. At this point Emily's name was changed from her birth name of Emily Edith Eveline Taylor to May Evelyn Emmen. No one in our entire family, including Emily's 3 children (one of whom was my father) knew any of this until a few months ago when an elderly relative (on Emily's husband's side of the family) told my cousin and gave him Emily's birth cert, Edith's death cert and some papers relating to the adoption. It was quite a shock as we had always believed that the Emmens were our Great Grandparents. We don't think that even Emily ever knew who she really was!
So, in 1901, Emily (as May Emmen) is living in Stoke Newington, London as the daughter of George and Jane Emmen. George and Jane gave Emily's birth place as Brighton to the census enumerator, but they presumably lied as Emily was actually born in her real parents' house in Rosebery Avenue, Clerkenwell. I have Emily's real history from 1901 onwards.
