what i want to find out is her mother bridget was born apparantly in sligo ireland . i want to go and visit there but waht to know if its sligio town, as sligo is co, sligo and also sligo town so i am trying to find out which town she was from. i have sent a leeter to registry office in bradford where bridgets daughter mary ann farrar was born so i can then trace it back.

Hi Dawn,

Ballymoat is actually spelt Ballymote, if you google it you will see there is quiet alot about it, more about the Ballmote Castle though.


The Ballymote was found on the 1891 census, remember that's how it would be spelt if someone was spelling it on her behalf.


So you now have an area to work with.......... tracing her father James maybe difficult though, Irish ancestry is terribly difficult to trace.
