Dizzi, you have to stop sending me PMs. I hate them!!!!

Thanks for the offer of the scan -- my Hornes were butchers in Kent, so I guess we're not related to those Horns. ;)

I'd run into the Dales here once before:

Hmm, dunno why the poster deleted her other posts (I'm sure they were hers), leaving me talking to herself -- but they were about her rellies who were poets of the Dales (or Dialect poets of the Dales, google tells me).

That brought back memories - haven't seen that magazine for ages Dizzi - used to read it occasionally when on holiday in the Dales.

Janey - yep, it's Yorkshire - take a look at some stunning scenery.

Wiki gives you the geographical outline of the area...Wensleydale, Wharfedale, Swaledale etc.etc.

Dang, Diz -- my ancestors were HornE. ... And they didn't go to New Zealand ...

No cousins for me. ;)

I dunno what a Dalesman is -- is that Yorkshire?

If you have an idea of when they were born -- a whole load of people here at GR have Jeremiah Dales born in 1866, 1865, 1864, and then 1842, 1816, 1806, 1802, 1798 ... lots of people for each one.

If you can tell from the place of birth whether somebody was a Dalesman, you might want to send a couple of messages.

There are so many people who have trees here at GR who never ever look at these boards.
