Find Ancestors

Hi can anyone help me i'm trying to find any information on my g-grandma Clara Garside (Gartside) I know she maried a Robert Welch and my grandma was born in 1907 she also had two other children Ida and Harold. If anyone has any information i'd be grateful

You should be able to find Clara and Robert's marriage registration on this site:

You can buy the cert online from the GRO. The cert will give you their ages and their fathers' names then you can look for them on the census.

RG numbers are the numbers of the census: 1901 = RG13, 1891 = Rg12, 1881 = RG11 etc

The 'scan available' bit is not really of any use to you unless you want to check the original transcription

to see the details of the marriage you need to buy the certificate

a useful site for researching Oldham families is lancashirebmd.org.uk. On this site for Oldham births the mother's maiden name is recorded helping you to find previous generations eg for grandmaothers birth reg showing mmn as Garside

it is a little more difficult for Clara as I suspect that Sarah shown on that 1901 census may be Joseph's 2nd wife as I am struggling to find a consistent maiden name and matching marriage
