Trying to find Broers

Kerry Report 15 Dec 2006 00:49

Looking for any information on Johann Heinrich Broers, b. 1833 in Bramstedt, Holstein, Germany. Emigrated to Australia on 'Sir Isaac Newton' in 1856, with step-brother Hans Runge. Mother was Anna Runge (nee Mohr). Name was later changed to Brewer (around 1900) by my grandfather, Charles Alexander Broers/Brewer. Johann Heinrich Broers had a brother, Freiderick who sailed for Australia in 1863 on board the 'Wilhelmsberg' - sadly this vessel was shipwrecked near Terschilling, off the Dutch main coast in Dec. 1863 with only a handful of survivors - Freiderick was not one of them. I have contact with descendants in Australia but know precious little about the years in Germany. Johann & Freidrick were carpenters. Any interested persons - please make contact; happy to share info.
