Looking for information about parents/siblings or descendants of Margaret Alderson b1785 ish Dent/Sedbergh area, Yorkshire
Married Richard Silcock 1807 and had a daughter Alice in 1808
1851 census shows Margaret Silcock living in Lancashire with daughter Alice Lawrenson (record say Lawrance)
Would be grateful for any help with this

Do you think this might be her?
MARGARET ALDERSON Christening: 18 NOV 1781 Dent, Yorkshire, England Father: WILLIAM ALDERSON Mother: ELIZABETH
Or Margaret could have been Peggy --
PEGGY ALDERSON Christening: 20 MAY 1775 Dent, Yorkshire, England Father: JOHN ALDERSON Mother: ANN
PEGGY ALDERSON Christening: 24 NOV 1782 Dent, Yorkshire, England Father: EDMUND ALDERSON Mother: MARY
And there's a Margaret 1808 in that batch, C010451.
Batch C009243 for Sedburgh doesn't show any Margaret Aldersons.
So I haven't been much help, have I?
I don't get the 1851 census. It shows Margaret Silcock as born abt 1802 with a son-in-law named Silcock almost as old as her.
Hmm. Her age actually seems to be 69, not 49 as transcribed by Ancestry, and probably son-in-law John's surname should not be a ditto to hers? Or no, he's a widower, so he was her deceased husband's son i.e. stepson ...?
So anyhow that puts her dob at abt 1882. So she could be that one at the top of the list from the IGI up above. Not that that helps hugely.

just avoiding work ...
Alice in the 1841:
Name: Alice Lawrenson Age: 30 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1811 Gender: Female Where born: Lancashire, England Civil Parish: Kirkham Hundred: Amounderness County/Island: Lancashire Country: England Registration district: Flyde Sub-registration district: Kirkham
Household Members: Name Age Alice Lawrenson 30 Thomas Lawrenson 6
A likely death for her husband:
Name: Thomas Lawrenson Year of Registration: 1839 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar District: Preston County: Lancashire Volume: 21 Page: 427
Alice's marriage, I would think:
ALICE SILCOCK Spouse: THOMAS LAWRENSON Marriage: 20 SEP 1830 Saint John, Preston, Lancashire, England Batch M007132
Are any of the others in that batch related, do you imagine? --

ALICE SILCOCK - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Marriage: 20 SEP 1830 Saint John, Preston, Lancashire, England
Alice's birth:
ALICE SILLCOCK Birth: 08 MAY 1808 Christening: 05 JUN 1808 Sedbergh, Yorkshire, England Father: RICHD SILLCOCK Mother: MARGT Batch P009242
No other Sil/lcock births in that batch.
There's an undocumented submission in the IGI that has John Silcock born abt 1817, of Preston, married to a Rosanna.
The info about the Richard Silcock + Margaret Alderson marriage in the IGI is submitted and not extracted, I'd note. It looks nice and precise, but I'd be looking for documentation before relying on it.
Margaret having a daughter Alice Silcock born 1808 and a son-in-law (= stepson?) John Silcock born abt 1817, in 1851, makes no sense.
This looks like John in 1841:
Name: John Silcock Age: 24 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1817 Gender: Male Where born: Lancashire, England Civil Parish: Poulton Le Fylde Hundred: Amounderness County/Island: Lancashire Country: England Registration district: Flyde Sub-registration district: Poulton le Fylde
male servant at Rossall? Hall.
(Yes, seems to be Rossall Hall: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Hesketh-Fleetwood)
Have you figured out where Margaret was in 1841??
