So, are Benjamin-Elijah and David one and the same person?
You now need to keep an eye out for 'Moses', 'Aaron' or 'Methusaleh'.......... :-D
It's funny to be talking to you during daylight hours Sylvs.......we can both look at the sun at the same time......and wave to each other :-D :-D

Hi
Had to go and have breakfast ............. I was so early!!
Yes, Cyn ..........
..... He started as David, then changed his name within a day or two of that posting to B-E.
It seems that when you change your board name now, the original name stays on the OP of any thread you have started, but changes automatically on all other postings made in that name.
So he is David on the OP of that thread, and B-E in his responses in the thread.
I now have his membership number in my little black book :-D
I think his style will be recognizable
It was great to be awake and semi-alert when all you others were also awake and semi-alert :-D :-D :-D

When we got home it started again so he went to the optician who said he has damaged his cornea and has now got 2 different things to use one at night cos seemingly as his eye is healing it dries up and overnight can stick to his eyelid and cause more damage he may have to use meds for up to 3 months :-(

Eggy bread-serious comfort food.
Yesterday was too hot for home visits.
The air con in the car has broken so every time we got back into the car we cooked.
We were given water at every visit though.
That is nasty Linda.
message needed please Cynthia

Decided I'm not going to the President's Reception this evening
my back's a bit sore, and we are going away overnight Friday to Saturday ......... and I'd rather be good for that.
OH has to attend a meeting in Whistler ............. where the outdoor events for the Winter Olympics were held 2 years ago. The meeting will only take about 1 hour!
It's actually only a 2-3 hour drive from here ................. it's like driving up the side of a fjord, so gorgeous scenery.
Which reminds me ..................... can someone do the Saturday eateries, please??

I didn't tell you about our friends on Sunday, did I?
He was just a little bit slower than 2 months ago, having to dig around for the word or name he wanted for example, but was otherwise reasonably well.
However, he has now been forbidden to drive as he failed a test every one in the Province has to take when they turn 80. There has, in fact, been a lot of controversy about this test ........... it is largely computer-based and tests reflexes, etc............... rather like doing one of those computer games.
So many older people do not use computers, or are not computer literate OR game literate, so they think it very unfair for there to be no alternate. Of course ......... the powers-that-be know better.
He recently went walkabout late one evening. He woke up after going to bed, got dressed even though it was pitch dark, and left the house. They don't have street lights in their rural area. He ended up at a neighbour's, where he knocked on the window of a room where there was a light on. Fortunately, it was someone they know pretty well. BUT our friend did not recognise the other man or know his name....... just knew he needed help.
Meanwhile, his wife had woken up and was going frantic trying to find him.
Imagine if he had done that in the car :-0
However, that neighbour is now another who knows the problem, and has told the wife to phone ANYTIME. So, another bit of support for her.

Such a sad disease to have and for those who care for them.

It is very sad when people who have been so sharp mentally during their lives suffer from dementia. My wife's step father began to suffer from it about 5 years before he died aged 90. We would get phone calls at all hours of the night often asking if we knew where his wife (M.I.L.) was. She had in fact died some years earlier. He also took to going walkabout but fortunately never came to much harm. Eventually he had to go into a care home. He had been a professional pianist and entertainer all his adult life and surprisingly although he lost a lot of his faculties before he died his ability to play the piano was not one of them.

Hi
Gins ............... yes, he has dementia/Alzeimer's
This has all happened very quickly .............. it was just last October that his bro-in-law ( a retired doctor) spotted that there were changes and said "take him to the doctor".
He is on medication, which is supposed to help keep it at bay. One does wonder what he would be like if he were not on that??
Jonesey ................ it is very sad to watch it all happen.
He is/was a very intelligent man, rated one of the top 10 in North America in his profession when in his 30s, director of 3 major botanic gardens in North America in his 50s and 60s, etc etc.
The other sad thing is that this couple only married wen they were around 50, both for the first time. They, of course, don't have children ....... and thus she also has no experience in dealing with the child who has to be constantly reminded to do something or who constantly asks questions that have been answered.
Her brother is about 85 or 86, and lives way down south. So all their support has to be from friends. He's fully functional at the moment, can carry out a comprehensive and quite complicated conversations ...........although his short term memory is extremely poor. His idea of time has been the first real thing to go.
He cannot for example do a simple test for the psychiatrist .......... put the numbers in the correct place on a clock face.
If he wakes up, it is time to get up, even if he has only been asleep for a couple of hours and it is pitch black outside. He doesn't look at the clock, or if he does, it doesn't make sense.
That episode was the first example of no sense of place.

Jonesey ......
forgot to say ........... I'm not surprised that your wife's step-father retained the ability to play the piano.
The very long time memory is the last to go. Piano playing would be deeply ingrained in his memory ................ and it would also have been something that he enjoyed very much and found a lot of pleasure in.

Jonesey ............
are you still around??
I have a question that you may be able to answer, or point me where to go.
An overseas member that I know reasonably well sent a pm yesterday asking if I can find a way for her to do the following
It's a bit of a tricky private thing, but she did not want to post the question on line because she felt she could not cope with a flood of answers. She has also tried looking on line but couldn't find any site that gave her help.
Now I'm turning to you!
Her 99 year old uncle died in Kent, England, last November. Someone has sent her the death certificate and she is now wondering about how to get a copy of the will
Obviously, probate has to be proven first.
Do you happen to know anything at all about when or where a copy of the will can be applied for?
Or, alternatively, direct me to where I could find out the information for her.
Many thanks
