On 1841 married to Grace and says born Devon?But on 1861 and married to Mary he says Berkshire again as he did on 1851..

That would give you his fathers name (if he knew it) so you could maybe find his birth for sure on some parish records?

I am unable to find a marriage to Grace for him though,maybe pre 1837 and not on Familysearch or Freebmd as far as I can see.

The Bishop thing I wouldnt know where to start though I am sorry...

It does however look as though he was a labourer throughout his life ...... which does not fit with him being a Bishop.

Hope the above advice is helpful to you.

If you put Valentine's name into the Search Trees box above, you will see that several members have that name with varying dates in their tree. It may be worth contacting any you may think have a connection with you.

I'm not sure how you would get a copy of the Stratford papers - you may have to Google to see if you can contact anyone.

I only had the 1851 census so now I have a lot more to add.

I will try Google for the Stratford papers and the Search Trees for Valentine.
