As far as censuses are concerned, Alexander Millar Davis seems to be invisible! He was the son of Pool Field Davis, born 1857 Claines, Worcs, and Margaret Millar born 1855 Scotland. I've got the parents and younger children in 1901 but Alexander has clearly left home, and I can't find him in 1911 either. Did he join the army perhaps, or go abroad? Any suggestions gratefully received. |

Yes, that's Pool Field Davis senior, the Great Grenadier, my gt gt grandfather. Pool Field Davis born 1857 was his son. |

Don't worry - we made contact with the owner of the Great Grenadier site a few years ago and we're in regular contact. We met up about 3 years ago and keep trying to find time to meet again! |

Really??? Fantastic! It would make sense with him going to Nova Scotia. My branch chose the warmer end of the transatlantic route and went to Brazil! :-D |

And I think you've just solved another query - IGI had a Pool F Davis aged 16 arriving at St John, New Brunswick in Jan 1924, born "Canso"?, Nova Scotia. I thought he must be one of ours but didn't know how or where - he must be the Pool Field Davis who was 4 in 1911. Brilliant! Thank you! :-D |
