I have a relative who married in December 1825 what do you think my chances of getting a certificate.

There were no marriage certificates until 1837 when registration began. The best you can hope for is to find the marriage in parish records.

Thanks Kathleen I did have a sneaking suspicion but I was hoping that I was wrong.
Are parish records on line because I only know where his son James got married

Some Parish records are on line

How do you know that the marriage took place in the specific month you quote?

You could try posting the details if you dont have access to certain sites, someone might be able to find a parish record for you

Hi Reggie, I'm actually looking for Benjamin's parents and I thought that if I could get hold of the marriage cert I might find them.

Marriage traditionally took place in the bride's home parish...but not always, of course.
You won't usually get a stated relationship of a father mentioned at that date, but the witness names are often helpful in linking a person to the correct family.
You could also look for the couple in later census, incase an aged parent is with them.
