You will not get electoral registers as they were not done during WW2

You could try contacting Hull Central Library.

Edit - sorry, forgot to C&P

http://www.hullcc.gov.uk/libraries/

its possible they hold the last ER before the war (1938/9) and could look the address up. Of course, there is no guarentee that the residents would have been the same in 1940

Have you looked for your deceased RN person on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site? He 'might' be listed there with details of n.o.k.

Thinking about it then probably the one in 1938/9 might be a good bet but they are held at the library

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966

(did the Deceased leave a Will?, might be worth a look)

Who was the deceased?

Have you tried researching him properly?

If he wasn't married, his father, if living, would have been his NOK - failing that, his mother.............or any siblings.

If he was married, his widow would have been his NOK.

In what context was the person at the address you quote 'listed as NOK' ?

And why isn't he/she named on the 'listing'?

For what ever reason, George seems coy on naming the deceased.

A death doesn't have to be registered by a relative - the informants name is in the column labeled Signature, 'Description, and Residence of informant'.

For all we know, he may have been the deceased's Landlord, father/brother of a Fiancee or a 'Good Friend' (don't ask, don't tell!)

Next of kin on many records could be the name of someone important in your life who you wish to be informed upon your death - not necessarily a blood or married relative. This may be reflected in the CWGC listing. 'Friend of' if there were no known or declared relatives is not really an option...at least I haven't seen one!

Let's see how George gets on with the ER. If the informant is on them at the address and he still needs help, lets hope he comes back and asks, naming names.

(probably ties in with above?, not seeing a Will for him)

Not really Reggie - the previous thread was about the deceased (John Richard Goodwin Brewer) not the person who registered the death ;-)

Can't agree....................especially as George deliberately witheld the name of the deceased
