Copy and Paste advice please

Just recently I have noticed that when I copy and paste a census from Ancestry it spreads out over a large area and I usually end up haveing to edit and delete spaces. Below is an example of what I mean:

Shirley it is driving me mad!! Something has changed somewhere and I can't work out what. MOH is also trying to fathom it out for me as he is much more computer savvy than me.

I have right clicked on a blank space on the census trancript and the looked at Encoding.
mine reads - dot against Unicode(UTF-8)
and- dot against left to right documentt

Me too. It also says the same as you (Unicode etc) when I right click on the transcript

Sorry My PC froze and the connection went doo dally with non responding website pages open .

I seem to remember my grandson . who is a computer whizz saying when the mouse is on its way out it can do funny things, Have you got a spare mouse you could try .

Mine does the same. The information on Ancestry is in a table and if you paste into a Word document it is tablulated properly. If you paste into a text document (such as the Genes message reply box) the end of cells are pasted as a line feed.

There is presumably some setting you can make somewhere which ignores the end of cell markers when pasting into a text application.

I copy and paste mine direct from Ancestry to the genes reply box and it copies over OK as you can see from my posting above.

Cant tell you why though or what settings I have that it works that way.

thanks for your input. I don't know why mine has changed as I used to be able to copy and paste as Shirley has done above.

I have found though that if I look at the 'Printer friendly' version of the transcript and copy that it comes out OK as below:
