Hi

I have a family list from 1911 - with kids - is it possible to look up if any of them married (with a check being the parents names). It is is Northern Ireland.

Cheers

Try the Irish Census - it exists for 1901 and 1911 and will cover N. Ireland. There is no charge.

Christopher - you will be looking for Church of Ireland there. Possibly Christ Church might be a good bet.

There are genealogy societies there - if not do as I have done write to the Vicar of the church.

Christopher - you've listed the people on the census with their ages but not when the census was (1901 or 1911?). Or is that the list you refer to in your opening post?

EDIT: That list posted is from the 1901 census, here's a link

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Londonderry/No__2_Urban__South_Ward/Donegal_Place/1536059/

As Chris says, writing to the vicar may help.

I'm afraid there are way too many possibilities to find them with any certainty in the Irish Civil Registrations.

Christopher - I know you don't have an Ancestry sub, so here's the geeky way of finding spouses in Ireland.
(It only works in NI up to partition, so thru 1921.)

We'ld like to know what rego district we're talking abt, so go to 1911 census, and look at the back of the A sheet.
For my example (my m-i-law's cousin, I know she was living in Dun Loaghaire - Kingstown back), it says the poor law union is Rathdown.
In England, the first (1837) rego districts were based on the poor law unions - I presume Ireland did the same.

The GRO(I) index thru 1958 (excl N. Ireland post-partition) is available at:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1®ion=UNITED_KINGDOM_IRELAND

One can purchase certs (or cheaper still, the uncertified images of the rego) via:
http://www.groireland.ie/
Post-partition, you have to use GRONI

Now a look up for particia ohara with marr place=rathdown gets:

name: Patricia Margaret O'Hara
registration district: Rathdown
event type: MARRIAGES
registration quarter and year: Apr - Jun 1939
film number: 101578
volume number: 2
page number: 633
digital folder number: 4199370
image number: 00180

I don't see how to find spouses on FS, so lets go to Ancestry.
http://www.ancestry.co.uk/
You need to do an old style search, so from the main banner bar select Search - Search All Records
The old/new switch appears at top right, just under the main banner bar - click "Go to old search"
(if it just says "Go to new search", you're already in the old style search)
From the main banner bar, select Search - BMDs incl parish, then Ireland, civil regos marrs from the huge list of individual titles.
Lastly, check the "Exact matches only" box at top left of search screen, then enter search details.

Here I want name fields blank, y=1939, district=rathdown, keywords= Jun 633

I get:
View Record Name Registration Date Registration district
View Record Walter Barrett info year Rathdown
View Record Una E Cox info year Rathdown
View Record Charles Mahony info year Rathdown
View Record Yvonne Messerny info year Rathdown
View Record Yvonne Messervy info year Rathdown
View Record Patricia Margaret O'Hara info year Rathdown
View Record Francis P Russell info year Rathdown

I don't know how these 3 brides and 3 grooms pair up, but I know she's Mrs Mahony, so another look up on FS gets a check I've done this right

name: Charles Mahony
registration district: Rathdown
event type: MARRIAGES
registration quarter and year: Apr - Jun 1939
mother's maiden name:
film number: 101578
volume number: 2
page number: 633
digital folder number: 4199370
image number: 00175
