I am trying to find Army Records for Sidney George Washington Spencer Sargent ... his birth was registered in 1882 at Richmond [SARGENT Sidney George W]
Sidney married in 1917 [copy of marriage cert is on ancestry and shows his name as Sidney Spencer Sargent] .... his occupation was given as Soldier.
I assumed he served in HMF during WW1 .... He was alive after the war and his first child was born in 1923.
Sidney is on the 1891 Census living with his mother Matilda Spencer and brother, Victor M Spencer, in Birmingham..... [maiden name Sargent - haven't found any record of a marriage !]
Matilda [Sargent] married in 1893 to William Jessop. The 1901 census shows William, Matilda and son Maurice Jessop aged 4 living in Battersea. I can't find any record for Sidney and his brother Victor.
Would some kind person have a look for me please?
Kind regards Angie

CarolB, Ginny & Dee
CarolB ..... I am sure of the 1891 Census information - a [very] distant relative has contacted me - she has a letter from Matilda's father in which he mentioned that Matilda had 2 boys and was lving happily with 'Spencer' an old family friend ..... I can only assume that 'Spencer' died ? as Matilda remarried in 1893
Ginny ...... Now I know why I couldn't find Sydney .... looks like he upped and went to live in America/Canada ....... thank you sooo much for the information :)
Dee..... Thank you for finding Victor for me.
Ladies ...... you are 3 very amazing people - I can't thank you enough for taking the time to trawl through records for me - it is very much appreciated
Kind regards
Angie
