Oh it is a headache, no brothers or sisters ? Lack of original thinking when naming their children, makes my smiths look easy. Ive trawled the full index and come up with nothing.

Hi Sylvia,

Was Thomas (1884) actually serving during the war?

The reason I ask is that there are service history papers for a Thomas Besley brn (1884) Wilveliscombe - Occupation Groom - who attested in 1915 his next of kin is listed as Rosina Besley (nee Pearce) - their marriage in 1905 in St Catherines Church Cardiff 30th September 1905.

Their current address 1915 is Langley Wilveliscombe - the only problem being that their children listed are Kenneth Hubert (1908) and Florence Matilda (1916) no Thomas!

The papers show that Florence was born Cardiff but baptised in Wilveliscombe Langley Cross the same year.

This Thomas was discharged in 1919.

Sorry to add to your frustration - it's taken me ages to reply as my stupid wireless network keeps breaking down!

Here's hoping you get to the right family - I myself, I have the old "Jones" problem in Wales.

Best Wishes

Angie
