I have now had time to read and digest all the info you all kindly gave to me.

It has certainly filled in some of my missing gaps.

I, too, cannot understand the Francis RICHARD Butler marriage to Sarah Melinda as his name has previosuly been Francis ORMAND Butler.

Could any one please find Lionel George Butler c 1878 born Lambeth for me on the 1901 census as you have found him on the 1881 and 1891. He is the son of Walter L Butler.

I've had a look at the 1901 and 1911 census and can't find Lionel

Samspade Thank you for looking. Lionel seems to have disappeared after the 1891 census.

There was a military record for some one of the same name and age who was killed in the war in 1917 but he had different parents names so I eliminated him.

I have traced the other brother Walter O to Prison in the 1901 census but have been unable to find him in the 1911, although I have found the other Butlers, apart from Lionel.

Hi Samspade - yes that was the record I had looked at but unfortunately it was the wrong mothers name. So he's still missing since the 1891 census.
