hallo, i`m new to this and am coming unstuck. i`m looking for the ancestors of jack butler 1919-1979, sisters -mary, may, brother james, father - james, mother - mabel england.
i think he had an aunt sarah ann and i`ve followed that lead - 1901 census-allen st hucknall, but i`m not sure if i`ve got the right line ( theres alot of butlers in hucknall). and if i have, i`m lost after allen street. does any one know my family?
any help would be apprieciated, many thanks, anita

I have found the death of a
Jack Butler birthday 26th Sep 1919 died in Nottingham vol 8 page 1185, 2nd qtr 1979.

Is the mother called Mabel England or is that where she was born?

thanks for the swift replies! i`ve got jacks (my dad)details, but its his dad- james- definate ancestors i`m getting stuck on, i dont know if i`m following the right line because i`ve only got one aunt left and shes finding it difficult to recall certain information.
england is mabels maiden name, harley is her married name from her first husband who died in ww1. i`ve found records of mabel and james marrying in 1918 AND 1924.

I would think you'd need to get the marriage certificate of Mabel and James which should have the parents names on it.

how`d you know where to look for the ww1 records? i`m also looking for details of my partners g/dad - ernest william OR william ernest bestwick who served in the durham infantry in ww1, born in derbyshire about 1898. very vague, i know. (he didn`t die in the war by the way)

There is an Ernest Bestwick coming up on ancestry WW1 pensions. Did he have a wife, Esther and children George Ernest b 1914 and Mary?? b 1916. It looks like he joined the DLI before being transferred. He was a lacemaker before becoming a groom.
No hold that, he'd have had to have been born before your one.

My husband's family is one of the Hucknall Butler families. I have the info. on the 1918 marriage. 14 December 1918 Hucknall Torkard St Mary's; James Butler ,29, miner, of 26 Allen St. Hucknall, Father John Butler (deceased) miner. Mabel Harley, 26, widow of 60 Victoria St. Hucknall Father William England, Miner. Witnesses: Hezekiah Bradbury and Minnie Mee.
