Find Ancestors

When Alexander Davidson married Jane Farquharson in 1860 at Loechil Cushnie marriage certificate states he was a widower. Both working at House of Lynturk Loechil Cushnie Aberdeenshire at time of marriage..

I have tried Scotlands people but no marriages for Alex Davidson at Loechil Cushnie prior to his marriage to Jane.
Any idea how I could find out who his first wife was and if he had any family to her.

Have you got any details where he was born?

This link is to a free site you could look on the 1851 census BUT there are over 200 Alexander Davidsons unless you have a area of birth in Aberdeenshire it may be very difficult.

He was born at Loechil Cushnie about 1834 and was the son of John Davidson and Isabella Duncan. His parents married there in 1827

Hi,
if he died in Scotland after 1855 his death record should be on Scotland'sPeople. Other wife's name should be on it.

As i do not have the death date am just awy to try to find the information on Scotlands people.

Have you looked at www.familysearch.org?

Have gone onto Scotlands people and opened up a couple of certificates but they are not the ones. There does not appear to be any Alexnader Davidsons from the area's he lived in so think i'll just need to keep on hunting.

As yet have not found details of his marriages and death on familysearch.org.

Another puzzle not solved despite the help I have received.

Caught before I went to bed.

This is his 2nd marriage . Scotlands people certificate says he is a widower when he married Jane Farquharson, that is why I was trying to find out who the first wife was and if there was any family with her.

I found his death on Scotland's people and it doesn't give his first wife's name..........sorry

Just can't resist keeping on searching even if I said I was off to bed.!!.

Where [place name]did you find he had died as I searched Scotlands peole and have not found his death in an area he lived. Also not sure of the year he died so ended up opening wrong certificates.There were lots of Alexander davidsons! Did you find a certficate that mentioned Jane Farquharson?

You did not mention about siblings in your original message what are their names and ages if known??

His siblings are John Jane Ann William Jessie Peter James and George.

Parents John davidson and Isobella Duncan. They married at Loechil Cushnie in 1827.

Nearly all my family originate from that area. Small place with lots of people in the olden days!!

Aleaxander died 26/03/1905 at Newhills Aberdeenshire....death witnessed by son James Jane died 26/12/1906 at Turriff....death witnessed by grandaughter Annie Stuart
I have also found them on 1861/71/81/91/1901 census if you haven't already seen these. Haven't found Alexander in 1851 though

Now I thought on opening the certificate for Newhills but chose country ones as opposed to the ones nearer to Aberdeen.

I will now go and get more credits and open that 1.

I knew Jane died in Turriff .

Wonder why his marriage certificate to Jane says he was a widower?

I have Alexander in the census for 1871 and 1891[ at Skene] hence why I chose 3 country cert to open!

If you want to pass on the census records that would be appreciated but otherwise I can probably search for them myself.
