Could anyone suggest information on how to find passenger lists for travel to Canada in 1952. Peter Edmonds, my Father, came from England in 1952. Landed in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada on March 26, 1952. I have his passport, and want to know how he got to Canada, any ideas?

There is a page in the back of his passport, special allotment 20 pounds and a serial number of exchange control application forms. What does this mean?

THANKS THIS HAS BEEN ANSWERED

Thanks Deborah Edmonds

my grandfather, Edward Edmonds 1903-1963, I can't seem to find anything in the census for him or his father William 1836.
Information is sketchy. I think there was a cousin Sid or Sydney.

THANKS....ANSWERED

Hello Chris Ho,
Thanks,
It seems likely that the family above, Sydney and Mary Ellen, are related to William Edmonds , my gr gr ganddad. However, not sure how to prove it.

it does look confusing Deborah, but Charlotte is the Aunt of William...
above is the 1871 census, her parents are the Grandparents of your William, on the 1881 census posted page 1...

But no idea who his Parents are, this looks like his Birth, which should give you some help...

Deborah Report 24 Oct 2010 00:57

thanks for all your help,
The census for 1871, Edward EDMUNDS 1821 is not a relation
The census for 1881 Edwd EDMUNDS is not a relation.
The cesus for Charlotte Edmonds, Bootcloser is not the correct year, (1842).
The 1901 Census :Charlotte 1851 with nephew William 1874 Sugar Boiler seems a very good fit.
However, not sure how John 1879 fits in.
How can I find out parents of gr grandfather William, 1874. he had a sister Charlotte I guess...
Thanks for all your help everyone.
I am struggling to figure this all out.

Still cannot confirm how Sydney is related to William
My family Edmonds was Congleton/Sandbach/Elworth/Haslington....Eva Street, Middlewich Road.
Any ideas how to get a Census by the street?

Hello Deborah, take a look round on the above link, or try googling for Family History in Cheshire,..

I'm not familiar with the area of Sandbach, or Cheshire itself, but bear in mind that families aren't always at the same address on each Census.

Also, take a look on google for Find My Past , and see if they have a free trial offer going, then you can do an address search for the Census.

Hope you get sorted, it does seem bewildering at first :-)

Chris :)
